This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are facing the worse problem ever! They don't have enough books to meet their needs! Please help my students' ever increasing appetite for books.

I teach a little over 100 students.

More than 75% are English language learners at a high need charter school. The students span from a Kindergarten reading level to a sixth grade reading level. Additionally, they all have different interests in books. Regardless of level and interest, they all share an appetite for more books!

My Project

My students need over 20 books such as The Tall Tale of Paul Bunyan, Julius Caesar, Gulliver's Travels and The War of the Worlds, to feed their growing appetite for reading! Thanks to Reader's Workshop, students are able to read on their reading level and choose their own books! They are going through the books quickly and need more books to feed their appetite. The boys especially, who are the most challenging to buy into reading, are reading the graphic novels so quickly that there are none left to read!

With this donation, we will add more books to our library that meet the needs of my students.

Specifically, I will get high interest books for multiple reading levels and keep my boys reading! Please help my students stay focused and passionate about reading!
