This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of the best parts of Kindergarten is listening to a story on the carpet or sharing during circle time. Most of my students are new to school and have a a really hard time with learning how to sit on the carpet which makes all of these great activities less enjoyable.

Our Title 1 school is very racially diverse and set in a large city in Maryland.

They love school, love learning and take really good care of each other. They love sharing time, reading books together and playing rhyming games. They have so much potential.

My Project

I'm requesting a carpet that has clear spaces for students to sit. It is bright and colorful but enforces order and personal space. Having this kind of carpet will allow our students to have more times for stories, more times for rhyming games and sharing ideas instead of constant reminders of how/where to sit. This simple thing will completely change our already favorite time of the day.

Today's teachers have to do so much more than teach students how to read and add or subtract.

We teach student's how to be good friends and how to have good manners. This amazing carpet will make that job so much easier.
