My Project

This fall will bring the start of another school year. For me, this means a new school, a new group of students, and a new role. While I am still preparing to receive my new group of students, I want to make sure that we are prepared for everything. This includes those moments that don't necessarily deal with academics.

This project is designed to provide us with a few supplies in the event that the school nurse is unavailable.

In my years of teaching, there have been moments in which the school nurse may be away or situations in which school nurses work half of the day. Teachers are no strangers to seeing students with ice packs in their classrooms or throughout the building. The plan is to use the ice maker to create ice packs for incidents that may occur in the classroom or during recess. In addition to providing ice packs, we can also use the ice maker for class celebrations. Juice boxes and bottled waters are great. But adding a little ice to a cup makes things cooler. It's also good to have a first-aid kit in the classroom with plenty of bandaids for bumps and bruises.

I don't think a teacher truly has enough Kleenex in the classroom. In addition to pencils and dry-erase markers, these go pretty quickly. The Kleenex in this project will get us started for the first few months of the school year. With me having a younger group of students this year, there may be more occurrences of blowing noses. The hand towels will be used in case we need something a bit more durable than the school-based paper towels that are provided.

I'm looking forward to the start of the school year in a new school environment!
