My Students

As technology increasingly finds its way into mainstream culture, the way young children learn has changed; my students are no exception.

"What does a meerkat look like?" "How long is a giraffe's leg?" "Where is Africa?" "What was Martin Luther King's speech like?" These were only few of many questions that my inquisitive kindergrtners asked as we learned about animals and Martin Luther King, Jr.

for science and social studies. Wouldn't it be great if I could show them visuals, provide them with facts, and let them hear the "I Have a Dream" speech at the very moment when their interest is so high? Instead, I had to draw pictures on the board, explain them to the best of knowledge, and imitate the speech. I have a dream too. I have a dream that one day, we will have a tablet in the classroom.

My Project

In my dream, there is a tablet in the classroom to support my instruction and to create a more effective and active learning environment. We also utilize a tablet to access information and visual media during whole group and small group instruction. It is also used by the students to reinforce concepts and skills that they have learned using educational apps and websites. They have so much fun with it that they want to learn more than ever.

My students would love the opportunity to learn and explore on a tablet.
