This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My preschool students have different developmental levels but one thing they all love is tactile activities! They spend their days using their senses to explore the world through play. The children have free play time in the morning where these tactile toys will get their day off to a great start! These tools will also be employed throughout the day in both literacy and math center choice play.
In childhood development, sensory play promotes inclusive, open-ended play that cultivates vital skills, promotes self-regulation, sparks exploration, enhances problem-solving abilities, and nurtures creativity.
The exploration sensory play provides nurtures their cognitive and sensory processing abilities.
An important part of the preschool child's day is learning to play with other children, not just near them. Washable sensory toys and materials at a sand and water table can create a common ground for children of all neurotypes to bond and understand each other. They enable children to play together, regardless of sensory preferences, fostering inclusivity and social interactions.
