Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a speech-language pathologist at a middle school, in a Title One school. My students come from a low-income area in NYC, all from different backgrounds. My population consists of students with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities. I strive to create an inclusive environment for all with any materials they might need.

Many of my students are visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners who enjoy learning and seeing new information displayed across multiple modalities.

My students have faced many challenges throughout remote learning which include limited face to face interaction, borrowed/shared devices, and social-emotional difficulties. I teach outgoing and outspoken students who love to learn and who want to succeed.

My Project

During these uncertain times, I have learned how to teach remotely so that my students are able to achieve their speech goals. This headset will help me understand students better without having to say "Can you repeat that for me, please?" Their voices will be clear and the headset will reduce the background noise while being in the school building.

Being that I will be teaching both "remote" and "in person" students, it is important that students' voices are heard.

Remote students will need to participate and feel a part of the lesson. I will be sharing classrooms with other teachers and will be using this headset with multiple devices to provide the best lessons possible.
