Many intervention programs, as well as all assessments, are given on their student school computers. This creates an issue in the classroom however, as many students cannot afford to purchase headphones.
Students need to be able to hear directions and teaching that happens in intervention programs, but cannot do so by just turning up the volume.
Can you imagine a classroom of students where 30 computers are all "talking" at the same time but saying different things? Can you imagine the inability to focus in a loud and chaotic environment like this?
This is exactly what happens when students don't have headphones to listen to their computer programs. Often times, students must mute their devices so that they don't distract other learners, leading to confusion and missing chunks of directions or instruction. This affects our students with disabilities as well, impeding their ability to receive necessary interventions and accommodations for learning and assessing.
Please help our students be able to thrive in a classroom environment, one where they can focus and engage with their learning, and do their best on their assessments.
