Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I can!" These two words bring joy to a teacher's ears.

However, when a student does not excel academically on par with his or her peers, we often hear the words "I can't!" instead.

Unfortunately, these are the two words I often hear my struggling students utter. It is not that they "can't" per say; in many instances my students are bright, engager to learn, and have the wherewithal, but simply lack the assistance of a supportive device to help them close the learning gap.

My Project

As we well know, individuals utilize differing modalities to learn, and in today's overcrowded classroom setting, it becomes more and more difficult for me to provide the kind of customized individual instruction that my students require. It has been my personal experience that students who are able to incorporate technology into the learning process, often out perform those who cannot. Furthermore, instructional devices help teachers personalize instruction to meet their students' different leaning styles, as well as provide engaging and meaningful learning experiences. However, at a title one school such as mine, technological device are not as prevalent. Therefore, I am kindly requesting two Apple iPad Mini's with Wifi and 16GB capacity, to replace the outdated computers we currently have in our classroom.

These two state-of-the-art devices will allow me to customize instruction based on my students' individual needs.

They will also help my students gain the confidence they need to achieve academic success, help bridge the digital divide, and prepare them for their digital future. Most importantly, these iPads will give my students the opportunity to loudly and proudly proclaim, "I can!"
