This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a reading intervention coordinator at my school. I teach at an inner-city school where my students and their families are of lower socio-economic status and speak Non-standard English or Spanish as a first language.
One of my main areas of focus is obtaining resources that will assist my students in meeting the rigorous Common Core Standards in reading and writing, as well as in developing their 21st Century Skills in digital literacy.
My students are special because they learn best through the use of various modalities, including visual, kinesthetic, and auditory. My plan is to improve the visual and auditory learning opportunities in reading for my students through the use of a computer monitor. By using a monitor, I will be able to design instruction that targets skills while ensuring that I am attending to the needs of every student. I will also be able to ensure that all students are actively participating. Your help with this project will make these goals more attainable.
My Project
In Zoom classes, one of the struggles faced by teachers and students is not being able to see all of the students with whom we are working with. Parents sometimes complain that students are not called on to participate throughout the day. When this occurs, it may, unfortunately, be due to the teacher being unable to see all of the students in the one computer window. With the use of a monitor, I will be able to see all of my students on Zoom and provide them with the attention they need and deserve to have during our sessions.
