Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This year I will have another class of lively, culturally, and ethnically diverse learners who are growing in their maturity and stamina, all remotely. Many of my students will not have consistency and structure at home. They will need practice to learn routines and computer literacy away from the classroom setting.
This year's class will need to access all online learning, so in addition to explicit and clear mini-lessons, breaking into small groups for differentiated instruction will be very important.
Our school is a "school of promise" which means over half of our students are not at grade level standard by spring as measured by the SBA.
Technology required for academic online programs will ask a lot of the kids, all while they adapt to using a computer for whole class, small group and individual learning and practice at home.
My Project
This school year will be like no other because we will not start in a physical classroom. When we moved to remote instruction in the spring, students lost valuable learning time when they couldn't see their computer screen clearly, or got distracted and worn out by the need to look at a screen for extended periods of time without looking away. They found it tedious to learn over a screen and it wasn't always possible to redirect them while trying to differentiate instruction for all students. Students complained of headaches and many complained that they couldn't see their peers clearly.
Bluelight blocking glasses mean my students can participate in remote learning without brain strain!
Essential materials like these cool glasses means they won't come to class with headaches or blurred vision. Plus, third graders love anything special that helps them learn. They will be very enthusiastic when they get to wear their special glasses!
