Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

PS 75 Emily Dickinson School students learn to be independent thinkers, self-advocates, and problem-solvers. Through conversation and collaboration with students, parents, and teachers, students identify areas and behaviors in which they feel needs to be improved or changed. Students and counselor create visual reminders for positive behavior choices (ie: ask for help, agree to disagree), executive functioning (ie: pack up/unpack), calming techniques (ie: breathe, count to ten). Through observation, praise, and encouragement, students will earn certificates to continue the self-motivation.

Students who are provided the opportunity to have input and be responsible for their change in behavior are successful in their academic and social-emotional development.
