My Students

My students are gifted 1st graders and benefit from differentiated teaching. They are identified as above grade level in two or more areas, yet they are still young kids, navigating life through their five senses. They love a challenge and they are fully engaged when given the freedom to think creatively.

My Project

First grade is pivotal in a child's literacy future! In my gifted class, I have students at varying reading levels, from kindergarten through fourth grade. Being able to record themselves, listen, and then share will be so exciting for these kids!

At every reading level, my students will enjoy hearing their own voices, recognize their own progress, and share their stories with friends.

I plan to create a recording and listening station in my classroom. The students will choose on-level books that they have practiced and record themselves reading them with accuracy and fluency. I anticipate an increase in motivation and confidence as they use these new tools!
