Our school district spans five rural communities in the Eastern delta region of Arkansas. The area is large, and many students must ride the bus for long periods of time just to get to school. They depend on the school for transportation, food programs, and exposure to all things educational. We are a diverse population brought together for the purpose of learning.
With such diverse economic and cultural backgrounds coming together, our district strives to meet each student where they are and equip them for learning and progressing to the next level.
My Project
Whisper phones have been used by speech therapists for a long time. As a music teacher, I have found them to be an incredibly powerful tool for anyone struggling to match the pitch.
We currently have 2 whisper phones that I use in the classroom on a daily basis.
They are extremely helpful for children to hear themselves. Because I only have 2, not all the children can benefit and I am limited to my children with the largest deficits. With a classroom set, all the children could improve their pitch matching skills and learn to hear their own voices.
