Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a cute old little school in Houston, TX. This area of Houston was seriously damaged by Hurricane Harvey two years ago.

My students are happy kids with social and economic disadvantages.

They are eager to learn, but they are lacking resources. They are capable of learning. While in other areas students get support from their parents, my students' parents are at work trying to provide for their kids.

This school year will be a bit challenging facing the students' circumstances. We will certainly benefit from the generous donations of the participants, and we will be grateful.

My Project

Technology is all around us. There are many computer programs that the students use daily. I like specially the reading programs. The classroom is a little bit loud when they are working in the computers because we do not have headphones. Many of my students cannot afford to buy headphones. With the new headphones, my students will be able to improve their listening skills. Students can work independently without interruptions to the rest of the class, and improve their English as well. The new headphones will be placed on each of our twelve computers. My students then will be able to take turns using them.
