Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a second grade teacher in a rural part of Washington state. Our school has a diverse population with students who come from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. Most of my students come from low income, bilingual, and farmworker homes who all qualify for a free and reduced lunch.

Our school and teachers work hard each and every day to provide all our students with the best and most equitable learning experience possible.

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support towards our classroom. We are very appreciative and thankful for your assistance and efforts to make sure each student has the opportunity to find success in second grade.

My Project

In the classroom we have access to iPads and computers, but my students need headphones in order to personalize their learning while on computer programs at their own pace. During math and science my students use the computers as a tool to practice what they have learned in the classroom or to access the science lessons, but sometimes they may have to listen to directions on the computer and if all 22 computers and or iPads are reading the directions out loud it can be very difficult to hear or understand what was read. The power strip will provide them charged iPads for availability, and give them a chance to practice their learning.

Headphones will help my students hear and work at their own pace.
