My Students

My students are hardworking kids from New York City in a special education class. They are hard-working but happy students. My students come from low-income families and need every advantage they can get. They face many challenges outside of school, but they work hard in school to succeed.

They have the smarts and the motivation to be the best; let's give them the materials.

I want to ensure my students have all the necessary tools to compete in our challenging world.

My Project

So often when my students become upset or sad it comes out as anger and frustration. Self regulation as well as coping strategies need to become more prevalent in my class. I want this to be the norm for my students.

I would love to create a safe and cozy space for my students to relax.

Having books about feelings and emotions will be available in a cozy area of the room. Along with this will be coloring books and markers. Students can learn to read their own emotions and learn positive was to express their feelings.
