Our wonderful students at LE are a group of diverse learners who work hard to achieve academic growth daily! These students come from the east side of Tacoma and attend a school where 81.9% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
At LE, we strive to provide every opportunity for our students to learn.
This means that teachers are constantly purchasing a variety of items to enhance their learning experiences. Please consider donating to support our hard-working students and teachers!
My Project
We need easels to hold our big books so that students can take on the literacy skills they are learning in shared reading! This is the part of the day when we read a story or poem together. Then students reread during reading centers. The easels will hold the pages in place of our VERY LARGE books so students can take on the role of lead reader or teacher—tracking the print, decoding the words, investigating the illustrations, noticing and naming features of the text!
These easels will help students access Big Books on their own or with partners, building their reading CONFIDENCE!
We want students to feel that reading is something that they CAN DO!
