My Project

The materials I chose help my students engage in peer discussions, problem solving, self-awareness, and advocacy. Our primary goal is to improve literacy skills while promoting mental health and well-being among students. We aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can thrive both academically and emotionally.

I teach 9th-12th grade.

Literacy is a tool for advocacy; we must teach our children the power of reading and writing especially in terms of advocating for their rights and their needs.

To achieve these goals, we have selected a variety of resources, including:

Books: A diverse selection of age-appropriate literature will encourage a love for reading, enhance vocabulary, and improve comprehension skills.

Games and party favor rewards: Interactive games will not only make learning fun but also foster teamwork and critical thinking, while providing a safe space for students to express themselves.

Pens and Stationery: Quality writing materials will encourage creativity in writing and reflection, allowing students to articulate their thoughts and feelings effectively.

Snacks: Providing healthy snacks will promote a positive classroom atmosphere and support mental well-being, ensuring students feel nourished and focused.

Impact: By integrating these materials into our curriculum, we aim to create a holistic approach that addresses both literacy and mental health. Engaging students with diverse resources will inspire a lifelong love of learning and equip them with the tools they need to navigate their emotions and experiences.

Additionally, it is imperative in the state of our world today that children realize that mental health is equally as important as physical health. In order to be successful in school, our children must be ready mentally and emotionally in order to take on challenging tasks.
