My Students

Wouldn't it be great if we could all become real authors who got to publish a real book? If given the opportunity, my students will be inspired to become life long writers. Making their imaginative stories come to life on paper in book that they publish will be a real treasure for them.

I am a National Board Certified General Education teacher.

Of the 21 students I teach throughout all of the subject areas, 12 have IEP's. My students have a large range of exceptionalities and abilities, each one eager to learn and be the best student they can be. None of the students let their disabilities get in their way of becoming successful and achieving their goals. We are located in a master-planned community where the parents are very involved in helping their children reach their full potential. It is important for me as their teacher, to find ways to keep them motivated to always strive for their best and have high expectations for themselves. Some of the students have Occupational Therapy which hinders their ability to write with legible hand writing.

My Project

Allowing the opportunity for my students to create and publish their own books will provide them the chance to become real authors which will inspire them to continue a passion for writing. Writing is a struggle for many of my students and publishing real books will give them the self-esteem to know that they can achieve anything they want when they put forth their best efforts. Increasing their self-esteem will also help them to be successful in their other academic areas. A nice printer and photo paper will allow their books to look presentable and help to keep their publishings a treasure they can cherish the rest of their lives. Becoming real authors will give them a purpose to write and a purpose to give it their all. Allowing them to type their story onto paper and print it will help those who struggle with their penmanship and encourage them to tell their stories without the stress of it not being as neat as someone else.

I co-teach with one of our ESE teachers for Reading, Writing, and Math.

Together, are always in search of finding ways to help our students become successful and have pride in themselves. This technology will help to do that, as well as, all the future children have for years to come.
