I Am a Super Student!

My students need assistance to help regulate their bodies and emotions. When the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol is implemented I need to finish the brushing protocol by placing a weighted vest on the student.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Amazing 469'ers! The students at our school are an elite group of students. They have amazing talents and come to school every day ready to learn. We currently have 5 locations, throughout the Bronx, which provide education to students from kindergarten to middle school. With this wide range of students, many resources are needed to help enhance their educational needs.

We service a broad range of students with multiple needs.

Some of our students are non-verbal and require various methods to express wants and needs. Whereas some of our students are verbal, active and require multiple methods to meet their sensory needs. With your help our students will continue to engage in successful and meaningful learning.

My Project

Imagine feeling so out of control on the inside that you couldn't pay attention to anything anyone was saying? It would be very difficult to make friends, complete activities and engage in learning. I'm requesting two weighted vests for our students to use in conjunction with the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol. When both methods are combined it has outstanding effects on the student. Students who have attention difficulty and sensory processing disorders are now able to internally calm. Students are able to engage with peers in a positive manner and attend to classroom activities. It's a wonderful thing to hear a student request to be brushed and vocalize that it makes them feel good!
