This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a pre-kindergarten through fifth grade elementary school in New York. My students attend school in one of the poorest congressional districts in the nation-an area with a very high concentration of poverty. Most, if not all of my students, are eligible for free lunch.

The expert in anything was once a beginner.

My students are a hard working group who are persistent and determined to do well in school. They need essential resources to enable them to maximize learning opportunities and help them to do their best work every day.

Health is wealth!

They need essential resources to enable them to maximize learning opportunities and help them to do their best work every day.

In an effort to promote the overall health and wellness of my students, I am requesting essential and basic hygiene items. These resources will help them practice and develop good hygiene and grooming habits. The toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste will provide them with the resources needed to develop good oral hygiene habits. The deodorant/antiperspirant, facial wipes, lip balm will help them maintain basic body care. The combs and wet-napkins will help them attend to and learn the basics of personal grooming. The hand sanitizers and pocket tissues (for the runny noses) will enable them to keep their faces and hands free of germs.

Health is wealth!

These resources are essential to building the self-esteem of children whose parents may not be able to afford these items. These items may also prevent my students from getting teased, picked on, or bullied because they lack the necessary resources for personal grooming and hygiene.
