My Students

My Adaptive Physical Education Students have and Individualized Education Plan, with an emphasis on differentiated instruction in Physical Education Class. My student are in grades sixth, seventh and eighth. They are in the lowest 25% of their grade level. The majority of them are on a Modified Curriculum, due to their Intellectual Abilities. Additionally, they are from low-income households, and they are on free or reduced lunch. It is my unique task to introduce new and challenging skills while reinforcing and maintaining previously learned ones.

My Adaptive Physical Education Students, eagerly look forward to attend my class, engaging in cooperative groups, as well as, practicing independent tasks that are differentiated in instruction and align with the needs of each learner.

On-going physical activity is directly related to stress management, weight control, increase focus, as well as, learning the essential skill of cooperative learning.

My Project

This year has been a huge challenge for the students in my classroom. Studetns come to school with a lot of stress. Hurricane Irma has put a damper on the energy and efforts of many in the community. In our school, many of the students parents do not have extra funds for technology or to have family fun nights. I want to make it happen.

I would like to host a few game days with my students and parents.

Parents can come in with their kids and have a one-one meeting with me, while also spending fun night with their kids playing video games. This would also help my special education students when they become overwhelmed. Parents would be able to finish the conferences with me and then go to the gaming stations with their children. They would also be able to spend more time discussing their children's success.
