Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in the heart of the city of Houston, Texas, that was hit by the powerful hurricane Harvey and destroyed not only the dreams of many families but their belongings.

My students were strongly impacted by hurricane Harvey that had our city in almost complete darkness over a period of four days; they are still scared and I can see it on their little pretty faces when they hear again the threat of thunderstorms.

My idea is to distract my students with fun activities that can let them forget the stress and anxiety caused by the hurricane Harvey.

My Project

My plan is to have all my students engaged in different team building activities that are fun for everyone and will make them forget the mental strain caused by hurricane Harvey. I included different equipment to practice soccer and basketball, and other fun activities using applications from the iPad Pro such as "Workouts" and the website GoNoodle.com. I will use the keyboard to plan for the activities and write them down.

These physical activities will make a big difference in my students' learning; they will have healthier bodies, brighter minds, and better lifestyles that will help them overcome even the uneasiness triggered by hurricane Harvey.

All my students will have the opportunity to practice soccer and basketball, do some dancing with the website "GoNoodle" and do physical exercise including stretches using the application "Workouts". The iPad Pro will be used more frequently during bad weather, inside the classroom.

They need all these activities to do the correct foot patterns mechanics in hopping, jumping, skipping, leaping, galloping, and sliding. They also will learn how to follow directions, how to apply safe movement practices and how to play like a team while at the same time will let them forget the stress caused by the hurricane.

They will do these activities during our Physical Education schedule. Playing sports every school day will keep my students more engaged in the other subjects and they will also have lower anxiety levels.
