Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from different homes and experience different things. However, one thing they have in common is the need for an education. In my case - the need for a truly hands on experience in science class.

My students are in the 5th grade, and this will be their first time learning science explicitly in school.

This means I need to backtrack and teach them all the background knowledge needed to understand. My school's population is 99% Hispanic, and approximately 60% of them are English Language Learners.

My Project

After being hit by Hurricane Harvey, my students will need a classroom that they feel safe in, challenged in, and love. It includes science kits, classroom supplies, manipulatives, basic human needs and rewards!

With this assistance, we will be able move past the effects of Hurricane Harvey and fully participate and engage in our learning.

This will be their first time in a science classroom, and they will need all the concrete examples.

My package also includes uniforms for my children who have lost their clothes in the flooding. They should not have to worry about what they will wear to school! With the uniform taken care of, we can focus on learning!
