Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Over the years, I have been fortunate to receive funding for several projects that provided snacks for my students, and the results were incredible. My students were more focused, energized, and engaged. However, all the snacks have been depleted, and I no longer have snacks for my grades 3-5 students. Without these healthy options, it has become difficult for my students to perform their best, especially when hunger is a constant distraction.

The specific items I’m requesting—granola bars, trail mix, crackers, and other healthy snacks—are essential for supporting my students’ well-being and academic success.

These snacks act as brain food, providing the energy to sustain focus and participation throughout the school day. For some students, these snacks will also serve as a source of nourishment after school, ensuring they don’t go home hungry. By keeping their energy levels stable, these snacks will help re-energize tired students, encourage concentration, and improve overall classroom behavior.

My goal for this project is to create a learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed, free from the burden of hunger. I want my students to start the day ready to learn, participate actively in lessons, and build the habits of focus and resilience they need to thrive. This project also supports a positive behavioral reward system, where snacks serve as incentives for participation and good behavior. Ultimately, I want my students to know they are cared for and supported, academically and personally.

My students are an incredible group of resilient, bright, and motivated learners. Despite facing significant challenges, including poverty and food insecurity, they come to school eager to learn and grow. These children inspire me every day with their curiosity, kindness, and determination.
