My Students

These students are full of life and have a desire for learning. I have never met students with more personality or tenacity. This school community has really changed my perspective on life in such a wonderful way. I have found joy in the little things because I have seen how they have joy in the little things despite some of their lifestyles. They are really a special group of students.

This group of children has really impressed upon my heart the need for family and a community that rallies behind them.

It has been so wonderful to see the support throughout the year, but it never seems like enough. I have seen children come to school with shoes three sizes too small because their parents can't afford new shoes. I have known children to go hungry over a weekend because their parents can barely afford to put food on the table. While the school staff, including me, has tried to meet the needs of these children, they are still in need of so much more!

My Project

This project is based on the needs of my students. I am focused on providing every resource possible to my students, and one of the things that they need is extra food. Some of my students only eat real meals at school and this leaves them hungry at night or over a weekend. I want to be able to give them more and be able to send home snacks in the hopes of providing more comfort to my kiddos.

These students need to fuel to be able to function and learn to the best of their ability.

This project will provide a variety of choices as well as additional breakfast, lunch, and snack options to create a full meal for students. These snacks will be given to all students who need them, including students not physically in my class. This is a labor of love, and I am so hopeful that this project will be funded to meet the most basic of needs for so many students!
