Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are hardworking, and their families care a lot about their success. They come from low socioeconomic backgrounds in Houston, TX with almost every student qualifying for free or reduced-cost lunch. Over 90 percent of the students are Hispanic, and many of them will be the first person in their families to graduate from college.

My students are inspired to continue their education in a health science occupation.

Our health science programs serve students from grades 9-12. The programs offer practical experience and mentorship. The mentorship provides the students with support, helpful information, and guidance. Our goal is to supply our students with life skills that can help drive them to success in and out of high school.

My Project

Many of my students are hungry and thirsty throughout the day and at times it can affect their learning. Instead of focusing on their empty stomachs help me give my students snacks to help keep them focused on learning.

I am requesting snacks and drinks to help keep their tummys full during and after school.

Some of my students have a very early lunch at 10:30 am and their school day doesn't end until 4:10 pm. So you can just imagine how hungry they are by the time they get to their last class of the day. Also, many of my students stay after school for tutorials and club meetings, so having these snacks available will also help get something in their stomachs on those long days. In addition, I can use snacks and drinks as motivation for participation in the classroom. Please consider donating to our project.
