My Project

I am a speech/language pathologist in a PreK-8th grade equity focus school. I work with students with special needs and varying communication disorders. I use books to target academic and social goals. My students are visual learners and love seeing the rich, colorful pages, with engaging content.

Using literacy-based material is a great way to target speech and language goals.

Reading and listening to books is a natural setting for language development. I plan to use the books in a small group setting to target various goals such as joint attention, basic WH questions, and following directions for my younger students. My older students will use engaging books to develop higher-level thinking skills, and verbal reasoning, and expand on vocabulary. The snacks will keep my students focused and motivated while they enjoy a good book. Please support my speech classroom and our love of reading.
