My Students

Schools today are woefully underfunded and these trying times make it even harder to support students the way we would like . Nevertheless, I work in a school where the students enter the classroom eager and excited to learn. I am proud of all my students - of their hard work, their commitment to their learning (even at this age), their thoughtfulness and perseverance. They are truly wonderful!

Children need as much exposure to books as possible!

Reading is, as we know, the fundamental, foundational skill necessary for everything that follows. All students love to read and they need to have access to leveled, appropriate, engaging books at all ages.

My Project

Students need access to books! Unfortunately, a lot of schools have limited resources and leveled books for each classroom is often not available. Leveled books are pivotal in helping students move forward in reading and comprehension because it addresses their personal reading level. Having access to these books have been shown to have a direct impact on reading levels.

A leveled reading library allows for individualized attention and small group instruction.

It allows for differentiating instruction based on each child's needs and helps builds a student's confidence and skill level.
