This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students who struggle with hunger often face significant challenges in their academic performance. When a student doesn't have reliable access to sufficient, nutritious food, it can be extremely difficult for them to concentrate in class, retain information, and keep up with their studies. Hunger leads to low energy, difficulty focusing, and impaired cognitive function. This means hungry students may have trouble following along with lessons, completing assignments, and performing well on tests. Over time, chronic hunger can cause students to fall behind their peers academically. They may struggle to grasp key concepts, develop critical thinking skills, or maintain the motivation needed to persist with challenging coursework. Hunger can also impact students' mental health, leading to increased stress, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy that further impede academic success. Ensuring students have access to food and snacks they need is essential for putting them on a level playing field and enabling them to make the most of their education. Schools and communities must work to combat student hunger so that all children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential.

Ms. Fiori will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by July 27.
