My Project

Kindergarten is one of the most exciting and pivotal times in a student's academic career. Young students often come in eager to learn and grow. It's an age of academic foundation and exploration. Unfortunately, sometimes it can be a challenging time for those whose families are experiencing instability with food, housing and adequate resources. A lot of my students' families lack adequate food resources. School breakfast and lunch are often the most consistent meal the students secure every day.

When students are hungry academic success is significantly impacted.

Often, they lack the nourishment to maintain focus, sleep due to being tired and display disruptive behavior. These situations cause a significant impact on thriving academically and emotionally.

My goal is to have students not leave school hungry, not knowing whether lunch will be their last meal of the day. Kindergarten tends to be scheduled for lunch at 10:30am. Thus, making it an extremely long time until potentially the next meal. Please help me to ensure small children don't endure extreme hunger due to family circumstances. In addition, to provide the necessary resources to help them positively achieve academic success in kindergarten and beyond.
