This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Going into my second year of teaching environmental science it is obvious that I need more hands-on laboratory experiments to help students connect with human impact on the environment. Environmental science is a freshman course and it is important that the students I teach gain hands on experiences in the science classroom.
With your donation you will help supply my environmental science classroom with two laboratory experiences.
The first laboratory experience students will explore the phenomenon of a fish kill that occurred in Lake Erie and how changes in lake ecosystem caused changes in matter cycling and energy transfer that lead to the fish kill.
In the second laboratory experience students will investigate the growth of algae populations in different concentrations of nutrient solutions. Students will learn about algae blooms and carrying capacity of algal populations.
More than half of students from low‑income households
