My Project
Part of being in a functional skills unit is learning to answer basic questions. Students need to learn how to answer who, what, where, when, why, above, below, next to, and so on. Having books that are colorful and filled with adventure helps students answer questions. These questions allow students to think in a fun way.
Having access to stories where they will catch mythical creatures keeps the adventure going. This is why I am asking for books such as, "There's a Unicorn in Your Book (Who's In Your Book?)" and "There's a Witch in Your Book (Who's In Your Book?)". These books will excite my students and encourage them to read. My students face challenges every day. Having a moment in the school day when they can just escape from reality and jump into a book, allows them to let their imagination bloom.
