I am at a high risk school with grades K through 5. We are a community school and we are very involved with the businesses and families in the surrounding area.

For the first time, our elementary school is implementing a gifted and talented program. Since it is a high risk school, identifying children with special talents and gifts can mean the difference between a lifestyle of success or being stuck in a job that doesn't even begin to make use of their talents. I will continue to identify students for this program in grades K-5 throughout the year. We are a community school and our faculty believes that the community is instrumental in providing a quality education for all of our students. Our faculty is one of the best I have ever worked with but funds are extremely limited. Starting a new program is always presents a variety of challenges. We have the teacher. We have the students. We have the enthusiasm and excitement. We just need some help with the tools!

Any type of building materials that will spark the creativity and problem solving skills of these students would be tremendous. Resources such as Quadrilla Twist and Rail Set, Zoob Construction Set and Gear Sets all encourage abstract and logical thinking skills. All Gear Sets are compatible with other sets and enable to students to hone their math and creative skills. Nurturing team building skills along with strong academics that challenge students is an obvious investment in not only those individual students, but an investment in our society. We have an opportunity to identify and enrich skills that are going to be critical in a changing world.

My students' smiles and enthusiasm will show you how important these materials can be to their development and future academic success. You can make a difference in a student recognizing their talents and using them as they grow into adults. Hiding a light under a bushel benefits no one and you have the power to kick the bushel aside and let that line shine. Thank you so much!
