How Do We Know There Is Water on Mars?

Help me give my students a hands-on experience in chemistry they will never forget. Spectrum tube power supply plus hydrogen, oxygen, and water can show students how the spectroscopy of individual elements is related to larger compounds.

My Project

Are you curious about how scientists figure out what stars are made of - without ever leaving Earth? Our high school chemistry students need proper spectroscopy equipment to discover this amazing connection between chemistry and astronomy for themselves!

Here's the cool part; this equipment lets students work with special tubes filled with gases like hydrogen and oxygen to see the unique patterns of light (like each element's fingerprint) they give off.

It's the same technique astronomers use to identify what elements makeup stars billions of miles away. Pretty amazing, right?

Our students will get hands-on experience using real scientific equipment - not just reading about it in textbooks. They'll learn how different elements create special light patterns, collect their own data, and understand why the sky looks the way it does. This isn't just a one-time thing either - we'll use this equipment throughout the year in our chemistry labs to explore how atoms and light interact.

By supporting this project, you'll help bring a piece of modern science directly into our classroom. Our students will get to experience the "wow" moment of seeing how chemistry connects to the stars above us, and maybe even inspire some future chemists and astronomers along the way!

With this equipment, our chemistry students won't just learn about atomic structure and light - they'll get to see it in action. We might even inspire some future scientists who'll use these same techniques to make discoveries about our universe!
