My Students

My students are a beautiful, multi-cultural group with differing abilities. My classroom is hands- and brains-on, and we love to learn from one another and through music. We love to sing and dance. They give their all in the classroom despite facing some incredible odds. My goal is to inspire my students to believe in themselves and to become lifelong learners. They have made my life brighter, and I would like to brighten theirs in return! They are so deserving!

My Project

This school year, I am on a quest to not only improve my first grade students' reading skills but to also instill in them a love of reading! If my students can learn to love learning, they can learn ANYTHING! Each morning, my students have been participating in "Drop Everything And Read." During this time, they spend time reading books of their own choosing.

Since the beginning of the school year, my students have enthusiastically devoured nearly each and every book in our classroom library!

They are truly developing a love for reading, and we are desperately in need of more books! These classic books would allow my students to continue to foster their love of reading as well as their reading skills during our daily "Drop Everything And Read!"
