Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and inquisitive and enjoy hands-on activities in music class. They are eager to participate and like to be in the spotlight. They are very musical and enjoy music that has a steady beat.

These music students are independent thinkers and would benefit from a class where they can learn to read music on the guitar.

The population includes 80 percent Latino, 10 percent African American and 3 percent Middle Eastern students.

Our school is dedicated to offering our students a foundation in the arts. Each grade attends a core music class and these books would be used to serve our 4th and 5th grade students.

My Project

A class set of guitar method books will satisfy my students' craving for the opportunity to be independent learners on an instrument they can connect with. The guitar offers students the ability to learn to read music and to apply it to a contemporary instrument with lots of options for all kinds of learners.

Studying the guitar allows students the opportunity to perform individually and learn cooperation skills in a group.

Students can learn a melody line, or challenge themselves to learn chords, or simply play a bass line.

Learning to read music and apply it to an instrument, is a skill that develops student's ability to preserver and think creatively.
