Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very diverse, with over 90% of the student body economically disadvantaged. With approximately 600 students, we have a lot of really good kids. They come from good families with strong values. After going through Harvey last year, the students rose above.

My students are very eager to participate in team sports.

I want to provide them with the resources to expand their skill set.

Our school is a science and math magnet program in grades kindergarten through fifth. Every magnet student receives additional math, science, and technology instruction.

My Project

We are in need of four basketball standards and goals and two sets of volleyball standards and nets to implement team sports at my Elementary. I have already prepared our field for the volleyball standards and have planned out the location for the basketball hoops. We will be able work on basketball skills such as passing, dribbling, and shooting, and bumping.

My goal is to increase teamwork between the students to prepare them for the future.

This equipment will help us expand options for our students so they can have the resources needed to work together to learn more skills.
