My Students

I work in a school that serves students and their families that fall below the poverty line. Many of our students come to school without their basic needs being met. Even though my students don't have all of their basic needs met, they come to school to learn. For some, school is their safe place and I do my best to make sure that they feel safe and loved in my classroom.

Our students are just like every other child, but they have the odds against them, recently much of the neighborhood around our school, where most of our students live, has been struggling with an outburst of violence, making our students feel even less safe than they had before.

Our students deserve what every child wants and needs, a safe place where they are able to grow and learn both academically and socially in a positive way.

My Project

I will use the printer and the color ink that I am asking for to print off student's work that they create on the computers and Ipads. Students often want to share what they have created with others, especially family, but we have no way to get them home with the students. Last year our class made a class book on the Ipads where each student drew about what they wanted to be when they grew up. We were able to project the book on the wall during family night, but some parents were never able to see their child's work. I am able to print a few black and white copies(which does not do a great job of showcasing my students work) for parents that ask, but due to limited funding and supplies, parents who cannot attend do not get to see their child's amazing projects. The printer and color ink also make it possible to print off classroom materials that can use to meet the needs of students who need resources that are not included in the curriculum.

The printer and color ink will make it possible for my students show off what they have been working on at school and motivation them to work and create as we continue throughout the year knowing they will get to take them home to show their families.

My student love taking home their projects and proudly showing what they were able to accomplish and learn at school. A color printer and ink will greatly impact my students work and their learning.
