My Project

I love that my students are motivated and happy to be back together in school. Despite the coronavirus's impact on our schools, my students' light of hope and inspiration continue to shine through. They are hopeful, optimistic, and eager to learn. I want to continue giving and supporting them with the best education possible. They deserve it!

I mentor fifth-grade seniors in an attempt to create an environment for them that nourishes their academic and social needs.

This GEM (Girls Empowerment Movement) Mentoring program allows the girls to use their strength and voice to exude confidence and re-define beauty. I do check-ins daily, sessions/classes, weekly and have a district wide convening that include other girls from neighboring schools, monthly.

Words are powerful! Affirmations allow us to create the reality we want. My students hear the wonderful, powerful messages that are spoken to them each day from myself and other staff members, but they are even more powerful in print. I would like for my girls to have a uniform GEM shirt that they can wear weekly when we meet, along with a individualized quote that resonates to them that touch on one of the seven core values that are discussed weekly: voice, honesty, strength, confidence, respect, individuality and beauty. We have a Cricut Maker, but the EasyPress 2 will help each student use their creative skills in designing a unique t-shirt that represents their individual selves. I am requesting an EasyPress 2, vinyl supplies and accessories (that allow us to be safe and organized) to help us put these affirmations into existence.
