Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from many diverse backgrounds. Many are performing below grade level and lack skills due to distance learning over the past two years. I want them to reach their potential. Having more lab equipment will allow us to build some of these skills. Currently our classroom has one electric coil hot plate.

Having actual scientific-use hot plates will allow my students to conduct experiments that require them to heat materials instead of watching them done as a demonstration.

Science should be about hands-on learning. Right now my students aren't getting that. Anything that requires heat I do myself, as the hot plate we have is hard to use to heat glassware and I don't think it is safe for them to use. Having flat hot plates with multiple settings will allow my students the opportunity to do more lab work themselves.
