This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am going to be teaching a new group of students in the 2017-2018 school year. My students are going to be 6-8 grade Autistic Support students in North Philadelphia. These students are all working on different reading, math, and social skills levels.
These students are amazing kids who want to learn and be successful in life.
These students are getting ready to enter high school, which is going to be its own struggle. They need to work in small groups in order to be successful in school and in life.
My Project
Teaching a 6-8 Autistic Support classroom in North Philadelphia always has it downsides. One thing that these students are missing is a horseshoe table to be able to sit and do small group instruction.
These students have many different levels and needs.
Not sitting at the same desk all day long allows for the movement that these students require. A horseshoe table will make small group instruction easier and more manageable for the students. It will also give them a place to sit in order to engage in social conversations (a big struggle for them). Please help us learn in a more fun way.
