Horizon After Harvey

My students need acrylic and watercolors to practice patience and the importance of layered work to express themselves. Including an artist statement will explain their works' meaning. We will deal with the unintelligible.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the Elementary Art Director at ILTW K8, we serve the community by bringing a full curriculum to students who have chosen to be leaders in their neighborhoods. They come from a large minority background with low-income housing and have surpassed their own expectations and now they are struggling with Hurricane Harvey. We were able to start the year with a strong week and then Hurricane Harvey began to test us. They need Art to support the healing process that expression requires.

My Project

My students need these supplies because their school supplies are strained for the rest of the semester. We are doing a separate ILTexas based donation drive, and I really want this to be a serrated event focused on their artistic needs. The children need a healthy way to express themselves with visual cues. By including tissues papers and water colors, K-3 will use STEM skills to create a 3D work of art depicting how they feel the Hurricane looks like. By using French grey hues and metallic paper on water color paper, 4-5 will illustrate how their strength looks like. They will do this by using sketches to shape profiles of leaders, objects, and icons that reflect those ideals. The Elementary students need us to care for their artistic expression, so they can communicate in a judge free zone of camaraderie.
