Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a Miami Title I School where 75% of the students are Haitian Creole and 25% are Hispanic. My classroom is comprised of 3 and 4 year old boys and girls that come to school eager to learn, play, and make new friends.

All of my students are either developmentally delayed, speech impaired, visually impaired, and may have ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

All of my students face great challenges when it comes to learning and retaining what they have learned.

My Project

As educators we strive to give our students the best and most comprehensive education possible. In the classroom my students are given plenty of opportunities for social interaction, creative exploration, and active play, as well as a robust and age appropriate Pre-Kindergarten curriculum that teaches them about letters, numbers, colors, science, and social studies.

I plan to use the laptops along with the award winning ABC Mouse Early Learning Academy computer program to help my students learn the academics at their own pace.

Ultimately, my goal is to have my students not only learn the Pre-Kindergarten curriculum but to also retain the knowledge they have gained in order to be better prepared for the challenges they will face when promoted to Kindergarten.
