I teach second grade in a title one public school in Sunset Park Brooklyn. Second grade is a time when children are finding out that they can read and understand lots of different types of books. They are learning that it's not only fun to read fiction, but it's also fun to read nonfiction where you can learn about real things. One of the things that are very special to children and that they would want to learn more about is the holidays that make up their world. There is a set of readers that I would love them to have because it explains about the holidays on their own level. Another thing they love to learn about is how certain things come about such as how icecream is made. So there is another set of readers that will help them learn about things such as this. Thanks for considering my proposal and enabling the children to read about things that would help them learn as well as keeping them interested.
