My Project

I am an intervention teacher with 40 sweet, enthusiastic students. My students are kindergartners through third graders, and they represent a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The excitement that lights my students’ faces when they read a new word or are able to effectively utilize a reading strategy is an inspiration for my teaching. My students enjoy engaging, interactive experiences, and my goal is to build their confidence and make reading enjoyable. In our classroom, we practice a growth mindset where everyone understands that they can get smarter and improve skills by practicing and never giving up.

This project is to provide two classes with a variety of fun, colorful resources.

I am asking for several different pointers that my students will use as we read in small groups and with partners. It makes it fun to track their reading as they point with donuts, giraffes, googly eyes, and witch fingers. Since I print a lot of games for my students on cardstock, I have included cardstock and a paper cutter in this project. The laminator and laminating sheets will help preserve many of these interactive activities. The binding coils will help keep my students' intervention books bound together so they don't lose pages or get destroyed. The sheet protectors will turn writing paper and Elkonin boxes into whiteboards. The new whiteboard markers and highlighters will replace the ones that have dried out over the past couple of years. These may seem like small items, but they will have a huge impact on these classes and my amazing students.
