Help me give my students magnetic letters to help them with phonics and word building.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Rusek's classroom raised $500
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are active, kind, talented, and curious students who love learning.
I teach kindergarten students at a high-poverty school in New York City.
My students are curious and have a great thirst for knowledge. My students do not have many learning resources at home and are faced with many challenges inside and outside of the classroom.
As with all students, they all have diverse learning styles. Some are visual learners, some are auditory learners, some learn best through reading/writing, and some are kinesthetic learners.
My Project
When students are learning to read, they start by learning letters and sounds. We teach phonics and reading strategies every morning. The students need independent time to apply the skills we are teaching them so that the letter-sound knowledge becomes automatic. Students need to learn the about the concept of letters/sounds, learn how to use letters to create words, and learn phonemic awareness. Magnetic letters can be used to accelerate student learning because they can use the letters to practice sounds and form words on the magnetic board. These resources will provide my students with the opportunity to apply their learning to independent practice with some fun!
