My Students

I have taught Health and Physical Education for 20 years. I teach Pre-k - 5th grade in an urban district. My goal is to expose my students to a variety of sports and physical activities that promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage them to make wise lifestyle choices.

I love introducing them to sports they have never experienced playing before.

I teach them to appreciate a sport or physical activity by understanding the history of the game, rules and regulations and developing basic skills to be successful.

My Project

Many urban city children dream of themselves playing basketball in the NBA or the WNBA. A basketball is usually placed in their hands at a young age. Although fundamentals are very important, coaches don't devote practice time to actually developing fundamentals skills. Some children's true talents are hidden because they have not mastered these skills. It is my hope to be able to work with players that have a desire to strengthen their fundamental basketball skills so they a ready to compete in an organized, regulated game. The basketball hoop will allow us to practice the skills in a game-like situation.
