I am a fifth-grade public school classroom teacher. My goal is very simple--for my students to reach their goals! I will try my best to get the resources my students need to do well in school and in life.

I have all sorts of students; you name it, I most likely have that type of student. For this proposal, I want to reach out to my ELL (English-language-learner) students, especially those who do not speak the language. They get pulled out of the classroom to learn English just for an hour a day, or even two hours if they are lucky. The reason I want this product is that while I am teaching the lessons in English, many of the students do not understand what I am saying and they get restless.

I already spent my own money buying "Hooked on Phonics/Reading" for the following levels: pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade. I would like to get the last set for second grade. I currently have a student who spoke no English when she first came into my classroom. Now with "Hooked on Phonics/Reading," she is able to read simple sentences on the kindergarten and first-grade level. She is getting more comfortable with the English language and is no longer shy trying to read in class. She is able to do more of the schoolwork now than in September.

If you buy this product for me, it will help my current students now and my future ELL students. They will be able to read and speak the English language better. This product will give these students the power to feel independent as they communicate with their classmates and teachers inside and outside the classroom. Please remember one person can make a difference.
