My Project

Many of my students this year do not read for fun! I repeat, they DO NOT read for fun! I am looking to make sure I have books that not only look fun, but actually are FUN TO READ! I also am looking to find books that connect to the content I teach in US history, ensuring we expose ourselves to authors who brings us a perspective of the American experience we don't always find in textbooks.

It's important for children to love to read.

This allows them to build stamina and eventually explore more challenging texts. But if we start with only challenging texts, it can be hard to hook our kids into reading.

My hope with many of these books is that every student in my class, by the end of the school year, not only reads regularly everyday, but actually loves to read and makes time outside of school to enjoy a good book.
